Healthy Hair, I Do Care πŸ’

I Know it’s not Friday but……..image

I had a blog post previously written specifically for today, it’s my 2 year Naturalversary! I was talking with some of my Curl Friends and decided to just share a few tips to maintaining healthy hair whether you’re natural or not. (I’m pretty biased though so it’ll lean more towards my fellow naturals I’m sorry I’ll try to keep it neutral). So, when I decided to go natural it was solely for the health of my hair, I was color treated (BLONDE, the worst color to have I don’t care how pretty it looks) and the left side of my hair was thinner than their right! (Constantly wrapping and parting on one side plus heat) surprisingly I didn’t have heat damage or excessive shedding. I really didn’t like how my hair looked or made me feel so I said “F@&k it, sew it up” this was February 8, 2013 (I had a short cut so it only took a year to transition). That’s just a little back story so here’s so of the things I did until I was fully natural February 16, 2014.
1. Stopped getting perms (duh)
2. Tried my hardest to use less heat
3. Protective styles (Sew in are my thing)
4. Use Natural organic hair products
5. Trimmed my own hair at my own pace at my desired length.
6. Deep condition every wash day for 3 plus hours sometimes over night ( yes I’m OD)
7. Tried natural styles (Bantu knots saved my life but they hurt)
8. Invested in a satin pillow case
9. Loved my natural hair process unconditionally even when I was tempted to get a perm
10. Took pictures of the process and noted the things that work with my hair.
11. Products: (I still use sulfate shampoos my doesn’t dislike sulfate) Pantene moisturizingΒ  shampoo, Shea Moisture, Tressume, Cantu, any thing Olive Oil, Tea Tree oil, coconut oil perm rods, Flexi rods. (These are my core products that work for my hair type/texture)
12. Drink plenty of water
13. Do not stress over anything, stress promotes hair loss.
My curl pattern is 3b/3c/4a I have loose curls around my perimeter, my hair is naturally thick.
